This is a serious post about serious things.
My roommate's fiance has been having an affair. For SIX.MONTHS. She found out on Wednesday and hasn't been able to keep food down since then. She stayed with J and I on Wednesday night, and then we came back to our apartment on Thursday. She's shocked, embarrassed, mortified, disgusted, sad, hurt, angry, and a host of other emotions she hasn't even uncovered yet. I'm just angry and disgusted, and of course broken hearted for her.
How does that happen to someone? How can you do that to someone that you love? That you were going to marry in 8 months? He bought this person, this mistress, this HOMEWRECKER a CHRISTMAS PRESENT. How do you sleep with your fiancee the morning before you tell her you've been sleeping with someone else for six months? How do you sleep with someone else for six months and look at your fiancee? Look at your parents? Look at your future inlaws?
My roommate is sick. She hasn't kept any food down, she's spiked a fever, she's chain smoking again. She's broken. She's confused. She's hurt. She's alone. I can only do so much, I can only be so much to her. She came down here to SC for him. She came down here to start a new life with him. They were going to get married. She was going to live here with him, be happy with him. How can you do this to her, you jackass? How can you look at her and tell her "I don't know how or why it happened."
I want to call him. I want to tell him how much this is affecting everyone around him. I want to yell at him for her, for all women. I want to meet the stupid whore that did this. I want to show her what my roommate looks like now, how completely and utterly broken she is. How confused and foggy she seems. And rub her face in it. Are you happy? Are you okay with what you have helped transpire? How could you bake my roommate cookies? How could you meet her on Halloween and take pictures of my roommate and her fiance and be soooo... THERE?
He got so upset with Marc Sanford. He did, he considered quitting. That was three weeks before it all began. He's a hypocrite, a hypo-Christian if you will. For someone who was so "Jesus-centered" as he was, he sure strayed rather quickly from the path. I think this is why so many people are disgusted by Christianity.
Is forgiveness truly possible? He expected my roommate to immediately forgive and forget the day he told her. He got angry when he found out she told her mother, said her mother had no right to be involved in this private business. To me, that's abusive. In no way can anyone control who I talk to and about what I talk with them. I k now that with time she will forgive him, but she will never forget. What is so unfortunate is that now she will be wary in any relationship she enters. Thank you, jerk.
I pray for both of them. I pray that he finds the light to turn around. I pray that she finds comfort in His Love, and knows that though she feels like she'll never be okay again, that she will, and that she isn't alone. I pray for me, for the strength to travel this journey with her, I pray for her strength as well.
So, blogosphere, if you're out there.. Pray for these two people here in SC. Pray as hard as you can. I love her like a sister, and I want her to be okay soon.
'Til then,
The Speech Teacher

It's a puppy!
For starters, omg, I'm so lame. I can't believe it's been so long since I've written!
This will be a quick update before I buckle down with school and puppy training! Yep, we got ourselves a little doll baby and her name is Emory (pictures soon, I promise).
In other news, Josh moved down here on the 30th and we've been livin' it up for sure! Watching movies, sleeping in late, not doing ANYTHING AT ALL. I love this life, and I can't wait until we're married so we can do it every day for the rest of our lives.
So, I decided this blog will chronicle our journey of raising an 8 week old pup to adulthood and everything in between.. Let's not forget I'm still planning a wedding and getting a master's hood in May. I'm going to be a busy, busy bee...
Next post: Bringing her home/Night 1....
Toodles!
PS.. Fave new word from the Christmas holidays: "Tuddy." Munch on that. :)

Sun and Fun!
Guess where we're going on our honeymoon?
Wild Dunes Resort in Charleston!
We are so lucky to be given this opportunity! We can't wait.. Well be there Monday-Friday after the wedding, which is perfect! Once we come back, I'll have one week to relax and get "our home" in order before I start my job!
In this cold winter, let me warm you up by letting you look at these pictures:

Everything's Coming up Roses!
So, after being so nervous about the interview on Friday.......
I GOT THE JOB!
I am literally over the moon about this. On Saturday, in an effort to make up for the fact that his job wouldn't let him skip the Christmas party, we spent the better part of the day virtual house shopping in the NE, close to where I'll be working. Of course, at that point, I had no idea I would get the job... But it seemed like it fit. Beautiful, rural land; large lots. Everything we want. :)
I can't help but think that everything is truly coming up roses!
Here's to the end of 2009, ending much better than it came. I cannot wait to see what these next years will bring.
Also, I've been reading quite a few blogs here lately, and I've seen this trend of a running theme, which I sort of dig like "items of the week;" or "wordless wendesday." I think I'm going to try this. With what, I have no idea, but I'll figure it out... Maybe.
Til then, til then, I am, as I ever shall be.... Yours, Yours, Yours, Yours.
1776. Anyone? No?

Interviews Interviews....
So I had a big-girl interview today for a job as a SLP in a school! I can't believe it's already happening.. I think it went great, so we'll see how it turns out. Downside: 45 minutes at most commute. Upside: the town reminds me of Abingdon. :)
Other news: Instead of a kitty, it'll be a puppy. A friend of a friend's doggie just had some puppies that will be ready come January. Looks like God puts things in front of us for a reason.
This was a ridiculously random post.
Light your candles for this job.

Happy Thanksgiving and start to the Holiday Season, everyone!
I have plenty to be thankful and anxious for, which is fitting for the Advent Season. I am thankful yet anxious for Josh to move down to SC. I am thankful yet anxious to be finishing up with school and looking for a job. I am thankful yet anxious that I am getting married in a mere (yes, mere) 8 months.
I was blessed to be able to spend my last Thanksgiving as a single gal with my loving family and my sister's new boyfriend. That's always fun. I am thankful, yet anxious that it is my last Holiday Season as a single gal.. I can't wait for next year: Holidays with the Myers' in Charleston. Everyone come on down to the beach. :)
In other news, my save the dates are going out on Tuesday afternoon. I cannot believe it's already save-the-date time.. It seems like yesterday that we finally nailed down a date/location/theme/everything. Wedding planning, for what it's worth, is not for the faint of heart, and not something I ever want to do again. My parents were gracious enough to mail them for me, and they are gracious enough to take over the actual invitation mailing duties, as long as I figure out the wording and templates. I'm so lucky.
This Friday is our 5th dating anniversary. 5 years ago he told me: "I love you.....buddy?" And the rest is history. There are days that I wish we could go back to that cold day in December as we were snuggling warm in a dorm bunk bed (the lower one, thank goodness). We had no idea what was in store for us, but man were we confident. We may not be the same two people we were way back then, but I know that every time I see his face, I love him just as much as I did that day and I find new things to love about him every day. It's the holidays that make me miss him the most, but sooner than soon it will all be over.
Countdown: 14 working days until his last day
Countdown: 30 days until he moves down.
Also, he's coming to visit in Nashville for Christmas. I can't wait.
Be thankful, and anxious. It is in cautious expectation that we await the coming of God, and so it is with cautious expectation that we wait for most things in our life.

So the countdown begins.
Officially, Josh is quitting 17 business days from today. :)
Josh is moving down to the land of chickens and kitty cats, where no one respects a Tar Heel when they see one, and where the cost of living is ridiculously affordable (Any Emory friends reading this: come down to SC with us!!) in max 28 days.
I can't believe we're down to double digits. It's a matter of weeks, people! Weeks!
I know this sounds ridiculous, but we've been together going on 5 years (Dec 5), and have never been in the same state for longer than a school semester, and we've NEVER done holidays. Shew, no ma'am. I'm excited for him to be down here, because we can start our own holiday traditions.
Here are some things that I absolutely can't wait for:
1. Shopping for a kitty cat
2. Shopping to make his apartment our home
3. Building a life with him in it
4. Getting married (I like how this is 4th)
5. Being together all the time.
I hope in a few weeks we'll be posting pictures of our future "home," our future kitty, and our favorite places in SC. :)
What can't you wait for?
PS... I'm sending out save the dates this weekend! I know it's a holiday weekend, but I have to get them out! I even bought fantastic gold labels to affix for our return address. (Yeah I know, labels = no good.. But I'm not having a formal wedding..... soooo deal.)
